Spencer Ainza – Percussion
Spencer Ainza is an emerging Filipino musician in the Twin Cities Metropolitan area. He first started percussion at 10 years old and has loved it ever since. All of the music experiences during his secondary education band programs led him to pursue a career in music.
He earned his Bachelor of Music in Percussion from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in Spring 2026. While at UMN, Spencer studied under renowned professors Fernando Meza, Philip Hey, and Reid Kennedy. During his time at UMN, Spencer participated in Jazz Ensemble I, University Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and University Symphony Orchestra. Spencer is versatile in all aspects of percussion such as Drumset, World Percussion, Mallets, and Orchestral playing. His true passion lies in drumset performance and loved the Jazz program at UMN. He regularly performs around Minnesota and has performed in many Pit Orchestras for Musicals.
Aside from percussion, Spencer also actively pursues other music ventures such as production/composition/arranging and learning new instruments. He also is the founder and former music director of PSA Marahuyo, a Filipino Music group that served the Philippine Student Association at UMN where he was very active.
